Eldrin grew up in [large city]. He was the 6th of 9 children, and the only half-orc in his family. His parents (two humans) owned a general store there, and Eldrin grew up helping around the store. From time to time adventurers would stop by the store, and he always listened intently to their tales, pestering them with questions until driven off by one of his parents, or older siblings.
He learned to defend himself, both from local thieves and his older siblings. He was an accomplished scrapper by the time he entered manhood, and his magical powers began to manifest. Even now, he is as apt to resort to his fists or great-axe as he is to use his meager spells.
Although life was not especially hard for him, he didn’t want to face a life of the same thing every day. Once of age as the humans reckoned such things, he bid good-bye to his family and set off to see the world.
